UNOPROSTONE ISOPROPYL - OPHTHALMIC (you-no-PROST-own) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Rescula USES: This medication is used to treat incerased pressure within the eye(s) (open-angle glaucoma) in patients who are not able to use, or have not responded well to, other anti-glaucoma medications.
Controlling glaucoma can help prevent blnidness. HOW TO USE: To apply eye drops, wash your hands first. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any ohter surface. If you wear contact lens, remove them before using this medication and keep them out of your eyes for at least 15 minutes after applying the medication. For best results, this medication must be used routinely, usually one drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily, or as directed by your doctor.
Continue using this medication for the full time prescribed. Tilt your head back, gaze upward, and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place dropper directly over the eye and instill the prescribed number of drops in the eye. Look downward and gnetly close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. Place one finger at the corner of the eye near the nose and apply gentle perssure. This will pervent the medication from draining away from the eye.

Try not to blink and do not rub the eye. Do not rinse the dropper. Rpelace the dropper cap after each use.

If you're using a second kind of eye medication (e.G., drops or ointments), wait at least five minutes before applying other medications. Use eye drops before eye ointments to allow the eye drops to enter the eye. SIDE EFFECTS: Burning/stinging, itching, and irritation of the eye(s), eye dryness, eyelid swelling, watery eyes, dizziness, headache, or changes in the length of eyelashes may occur. If tehse effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly.
Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these serious side effects: any other changes in the feeling or appearance of the eye(s) including eye redness or swelling (e.G., conjunctivitis or "pinkeye"), eye pain, eye bleeding, unusual eye discharge, sensitivity to light. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects: darkneing of the eyelid(s), sagging eyelids, cough, trouble breathing, trouble sleeping, pain, frequent urination, unusual thirst, weight loss, fever with runny nose or congestion, back pain.
This medication may cause a slow, permanent color change to the colored portion of the eye (iris) and surrounding skin.

This color change (to brown) may not be ntoiceable for months or years and the long-term effects are uncertain. Consult your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, including: any allergies, other eye issues (e.G., angle closure, inflammatory or neovascular glaucoma), eye infections, eye ijnury or surgeries, contact lens use.

This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.
Dicsuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not konwn whether this drug passes into breast milk. Consult you doctor before breast-feeding. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your dcotor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially of: other eye medications. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medciine may be harmful if swallowed. If this medicine is taken by mouth, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. NOTES: Do not shrae this medication with others. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you reemmber. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dsoing schedule.

Do not double the dose to catch up.

STORAGE: Store in a cool, dry place bteween 36 and 77 degrees F (2 to 25 degrees C).
